Ob Khan River Fire, 2019

Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Each year during the months of February to May, air pollution rises
in Northern Thailand. One major contributor is the act of burning.
There are three main reasons, the first is to clear the dead vegetation to avoid naturally occuring forest fires as the temperatures increase into the hot summer months, the second is to make way for new crops. The third is to encourage the growth of a specific type of highly valued mushroom, sought after and prized for it's taste, that favours the growing conditions on burnt logs.
